ENG 1009 - Freshman Comp The Essay Part 2 |
Prerequisites: Grade of C- or better in ENG 1008
This semester is the second half of a two-semester sequence (consisting of ENG 1008 followed by ENG 1009) that is taught by a single professor and is a prerequisite for English 1020. This two-semester sequence is a study- and process- intensive equivalent to ENG 1010. This course focuses on writing, rhetorical situations, and textual analysis, building on foundations of the first semester ofthe course. The course employs lecture, discussion, workshop, and conference methods. Students will learn how to critically read, summarize, engage, and analyze texts. Students will demonstrate their ability to generate, organize, and produce writing for appropriate audiences. Coursework does not include research and documentation. Students must receive a C or better to earn General Studies, Composition credit. This semester is the second half of a two-semester sequence: ENG 1008 prepares the student for ENG 1009, and the two courses together, taught by a single professor, serve as the prerequisite for English 1020.
